A nationally known cardiothoracic surgeon, groundbreaking researcher and sought-after lecturer, Edward Lundy, M.D., Ph.D., Chief of Cardiac Surgery, is the visionary leading the Active International Cardiovascular Institute.

In addition to being board-certified in cardiothoracic surgery, Dr. Lundy has been honored with two American Heart Association fellowships for research, which have been published in some of the industry’s most respected medical journals. He brings over two decades of outstanding surgical performance to our institute.

A Michigan native, Dr. Lundy comes to Good Samaritan Hospital from Lancaster General Heart Institute in Pennsylvania, where he served as medical director of the open heart surgery program since 1991. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan Medical School, where he also completed his surgical internship and residency. He holds state medical licenses in both Pennsylvania and New York.

In addition to his impressive surgical credentials, Dr. Lundy has a well-earned reputation for groundbreaking research studies. He has published numerous professional and research articles in such medical journals as The Journal of Surgery, Stroke, Journal of Critical Care, The Journal of Vascular Surgery and The Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery. Dr. Lundy has presented his papers and research to a wide array of healthcare organizations throughout the United States.

Dr. Lundy’s responsibilities at Good Samaritan Hospital include overseeing clinical procedures and protocols for the cardiothoracic program, performing and supervising cardiothoracic surgeries, and maintaining a top-notch team of surgeons, perfusionists, advanced nurse practitioners, critical care nurses and support staff.

Dr. Lundy and his wife, Eileen, live in the area and are the parents of four children.
