St. Joseph's Place Residents Celebrate Nursing Home Week with a "Senior" Senior Prom

PORT JERVIS, NY (May 13, 2016) - Dispelling many age stereotypes, St. Joseph's Place residents joined with staff members on Friday, May 13, to celebrate Nursing Home Week with  a "Senior" Senior Prom.

St. Joseph's Place at Bon Secours Community Hospital is a 46-bed skilled nursing facility that provides professional care in an interdisciplinary approach to meeting the medical, personal, spiritual and social needs of each of its residents.

The "Senior" Senior Prom came at the conclusion of a week long series of celebrations during Nursing Home Week, which was established by the American Health Care Association (AHCA) in 1967.

The event offered everyone an opportunity to cast a vote for prom king and queen as well as prince and princess. The winners were then presented with trophies and crowns.

"This was a great opportunity for our residents to recall and share fond memories with this traditional school days event," said Recreation Director Kelly Fedrizzi. "And every staff member at St. Joseph's Place participated."

St. Joseph's Place is located on the first floor of Bon Secours Community Hospital, 160 E. Main St., providing residents with easy, ready access to the hospital's medical facilities and staff.

Residents are encouraged to participate in a wide array of activities including games, music, arts and crafts, education and fitness programs. In addition, many local groups and organizations regularly visit St. Joseph's Place and help to keep residents involved and in touch with their community.
