Port Jervis, N.Y. (April 13, 2021) – The Bon Secours Community Hospital Foundation, a member of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMCHealth), has disbursed $500,000, raised from local donors, to bolster the Investing in a Healthier Community Medical Village project. This landmark initiative will benefit residents throughout the tri-state region.

Investing in a Healthier Community is a $40 million project that is expected to advance local healthcare quality and access with facility, equipment, technology and service upgrades through the development of a community Medical Village at Bon Secours Community Hospital, a member of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMCHealth), in Port Jervis, NY.

The cost of the project is supported by a $24.5 million grant from New York State. WMCHealth and Bon Secours Charity Health System have agreed to fund the balance of the construction costs, estimated at $20 million, with $1 million coming from community member donations.

"Thanks to charitable gifts, we are halfway to our goal of $1 million," said Linda Hannigan, Chair of the Bon Secours Community Hospital Foundation. "When we consider the remarkable benefits Investing in a Healthier Community will bring to our region, we are confident that we will raise an additional $500,000 in the next 24 months."

Bon Secours Community Hospital recently announced the completion of the latest phase of the project, including the upgrade to three significant services. An expansion of the Emergency Department (ED) now includes 14 new patient bays, with dedicated behavioral health spaces. Construction on the Surgical Weight Loss Institute, with eight private patient rooms, has also been completed. The hospital's expanded laboratory now affords greater diagnostic accuracy and efficiency.
