Stringent Infection Prevention Protocols in Place for Novel Coronavirus

Our commitment to the health and safety of our patients, visitors and workforce

news item

News concerning the novel coronavirus has heightened public health concerns and WMCHealth hospitals and medical practices have taken the necessary steps to protect patients, visitors and our workforce.

WMCHealth hospitals follow stringent infection prevention protocols. We routinely train our care teams in these protocols, and protocol adherence is monitored closely by infection prevention specialists.

All areas that register patients are asking them about their travel history. If there is a suspicion of novel coronavirus exposure or if flu-like symptoms (fever, cough, and/or shortness of breath) are present, the patient is escorted to a secure and comfortable area for further evaluation, in cooperation with public health agencies. WMCHealth is committed to providing a safe and comfortable care environment for patients, families and staff throughout the Hudson Valley. We will continue to monitor novel coronavirus developments and work collaboratively with public health agencies.

For additional information about the coronavirus, please visit the New York State Department of Health and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention websites.
